  • Family fishing experience on the South Coast

    MORNING BEACH FISHING

    Targeting sand whiting, bream, tarwhine, flathead, trevally and more.
    Starting at 0700h, meeting at a local beach depending on conditions. Finishing fishing at 1100h and targeting the bread and butter fish. If you want to take home a feed, we can leave the beach a little early, where George will clean and fillet your fish for you. Early bird catches the fish on worm.

  • NIGHT BEACH FISHING

    Targeting mulloway (jewfish), sharks, salmon, tailor, big bream and more.
    Starting at 1700, meet at a local beach depending on the weather/swell conditions, and finishing at 2300h. This is your chance to be king of the jews. We target big jewfish with big baits. Long battles with big fish can leave your arms sore for days. We encourage catch and release with the big jewfish. If you want to take fish home for a feed that’s fine too.

    SUNSET BEACH FISHING

    Targeting salmon, tailor, bream, flathead and more.
    Starting 2 hours before sunset and fishing until dark. Meet at a local beach depending on wind/swell conditions. Great family fun for those who like to lie in during the morning. Under the pink orange skies of the east coast sunset, as the sun goes down the fish come out.

    BEACH WORMING WORKSHOP

    Want to save money? Learn to catch your own bait.
    Starting at a time depending on the low tide on the day. Beach worming is great fun when you get the hang of it. Beach worms live in the sand on the ocean beaches. I can teach you how to catch them and how to preserve and store them. Beach worms are one of the most expensive and best baits on the east coast.

    LIVE BAIT AND SQUID FISHING

    Big fish eat little fish, they normally prefer them alive.
    Fishing off rock platforms or ocean harbours, this lesson/experience is based on the swell and weather. It normally starts 2 hours before sunset. Targeting mullet, yellow tail yakka, garfish, slimy mackerel, squid and more. I will teach you how to catch your own bait, and show you some of the ways to keep it alive and look after the live bait. I also run a nipper pumping, squirt worm 2 hour lesson/experience.

    ROCK FISHING

    So many options. Ludrick, black drummer, grouper, kingfish, and much, much more. Not sure what you want to target? I can guide you. Rock fishing can be dangerous, it’s a great idea to go fishing with an experienced fishing guide. From finding a safe fishing mark for the conditions with easy excess, to equipment, baits and techniques. Fishing with a Local has you covered. 4 hour fishing experience/lesson. Based on swell and weather conditions.

  • ESTUARY FISHING

    Targeting flathead, luderick, bream, whiting and more. Whether it’s float fishing, lure fishing or bait fishing, Fishing with a Local has a lesson/experience for you. Meet at a river or estuary car park depending on conditions and season. We can float fish for luderick etc, live bait for flathead etc, cast soft plastics and lures, or bait fish.

    CRAB TRAPPING

    Itching to get some crabs? This is a 2-day experience lesson. So no good if you’re pinched for time. I run you through the most recent NSW Department of Primary Industries rules for crab traps. You will learn how the crab traps work, baits to use, how to set them, how to handle a crab, how to measure a crab, how to dispatch a crab humanely before cooking and some recipe suggestions. We set the crab traps in the late afternoon / early evening. We then bring them in first light or early morning the next day.
